Earlier in the year, between  25th to 31st July , 2,700 athletes representing 19 UK regions supported by 1,200 coaches, over 6,000 families and 1,500 volunteers, aged between 16 and 85 years old, participated in 21 sports across Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland.  

With the Games now completed both David Sinclair from SinVision and Bipin Anand from touchRainbow came away with some truely powerfull footage that shows events, emotions, tears of joy, volunteers, organisers and of course the Athletes them selves.

Here’s a chance to re-live forever the memories over and over again of when the Special Olympics 2009 returned home to the City of Leicester, for the second time.

The book maps the progress of the Special Olympics movement in this country, but also abroad.  It is an extraordinary story of the way sport can offer opportunities for personal development and ways of increasing aspiration and changing attitudes towards people with learning disabilities.
